Netizens slam NBI, PNP’s failure to locate Napoles
If Janet Lim-Napoles was in Metro Manila the whole time, why didn’t the NBI find her?
This was the collective questions netizens posed after Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas revealed that the alleged mastermind of the P10 billion pork scam and the most wanted woman in the Philippines as of Wednesday evening, confessed that she was hiding in Metro Manila the entire time she was a fugitive from the law.
Roxas said during a radio interview that despite reports, Napoles never left the country and in fact, never even left Manila.
Aside from the NBI, the DOJ also asked assistance from the Philippine National Police, which tasked the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to track down Napoles. The CIDG created 19 tracker teams to hunt for Napoles.
“Nasa Manila lang pala nagtatago si Janet Napoles at kung hindi pa sumuko ay hindi mahuhuli. Ano pong “SILBI” ng PNP at NBI?” Arcan Ville said.
“Napoles just in Metro Manila all along? With no let-up in NBI manhunt nationwide at that?” Journalist Edu Punay wrote.
“Sec Mar Roxas ipinahiya mo lang ang mga security forces natin mga tanga. The world is watching on you alam niyo pala kung saan siya nagtatago bakit hindi niyo siya nahuli we have 120000 soldiers, 100 000 police officers plus nbi agents and officers hndi tlga kayo makabayan kayo mismo ang nagpapababa sa mga kapulisan. Ano ba klase ng gobyerno meron tayo?” Jake De said.
Netizens also questioned the failure of the authorities to locate Napoles, with some of them saying that there may be something fishy going on.
“2 weeks and she is basically in MLA. Pity on our intelligence. Parang may naamoy ako,” Facebook user Victor Samaniego said.
“If she never left NCR then where did she hide or who hid her?” Willie Banloi asked.
Shimofuri Mu wrote, “Malacañang is in Metro Manila. Abangan ang susunod na kabanata!”
Media practitioner Ivan Damian said, “Kung all this time pala eh nasa Manila lang si Janet Lim-Napoles, eh di malamang nandito lang din ang kapatid niyang si Reynaldo Lim.”
“PNP, NBI galaw-galaw din ‘pag may time,” he added.
On August 14, Makati City RTC, Branch 150 ordered the arrest of Janet Lim Napoles and her brother Reynald “Jojo” Lim after the Department of Justice reversed its earlier ruling and filed serious illegal detention charges against them.
The warrants of arrest for Napoles and her brother were issued due to the alleged illegal detention of Benhur Luy, the primary whistleblower in the P10-million pork barrel scam.
Napoles and her brother hid from the law the day the warrant was issued. Napoles later surrendered to President Aquino after he offered a P10 bounty for her arrest.
Napoles was on the run from the law for 14 days.
As of press time, Napoles is currently still in Camp Crame.
